Hey everyone,

I certainly don't mean to be an ogre or anything, especially given that everyone on these boards are genuinely awesome people. But I think we need to outline our guidelines for posting, and well as issues about signatures.

Please only post relevant messages on boards. I know we have a really big tendency to go off track here, which I am totally fine with, but this is just a gentle reminder to steer things back on topic once in a while. OK, so you started talking about Disney when you're on the RSpunk thread. That's great. But remember to steer it back to RSpunk eventually.

If you want to talk about something competely unrelated, then please go to the relevant thread and do so. If there isn't a thread, make one. Anyone is allowed to make a topic.

We don't mind if you deviate off the track once in a while, just so long as things come back to the thread's topic. But if you are only ever posting irrelevant information and not actually ever contributing to the discussion, then BE WARNED -- the mods/admin will come after you.

I'm only saying this because it has become a bit of an issue as of late on the boards. I certainly don't want everyone to think that we're trying to restrict discussion or be uptight or truly terrible people in any way about this. It is just extremely frustrating when you are discussing a particular topic and someone posts something completely irrelevant which has no bearing on the issue.


Next up, signatures.

WOOO! First of all, I'd like to say how amazed I am about how awesome all of your (mostly custom made) signatures are. This is just a gentle reminder to keep the size of your signature within reason. If your signature is more than 7cm in length (measure it if you have to), then could you please make it smaller? The only reason we ask this is because it's sometimes a bit hard to read the posts if all you're doing is scrolling through signatures.


These aren't really rules; more like guidelines. I don't think we're enforcing them particularly hard, but take this as a warning -- if you are constantly disobeying the guidelines (ESPECIALLY the one about relevant posts), we WILL have to sit down and have a bit of a chat with you.

It is becoming an issue, and don't worry we won't ban you or anything (unless you flaunt us when we come to talk to you about it personally).. we just want this place to be the best place it can be for all of us.

Can I also emphasize the original point Mallie made when the forum started about the "IM" posting issues?

I mean, guys... this is a forum, not MSN messenger.

Posting single worded (or non-words, as the case may be) will only manage to set the Grammar Whores [read: Linda, Mallie, Nikki, Cindy, Basil and Bec, to begin with] on you with their dictionaries, thesauruses and complete works of William Shakespeare.

Paraphrase: Post just the word "lol", and I may have to track you down and smack you with my chemistry notes.

... and trust me, they're freaking huuuge, so you're going to be in a world of pain.

I was just mentioning grammar issues to Bas the other day.. so of course, I guess that makes me a Grammar whore too. What a delicate way of putting it, Bec

We could probably use our thesauruses to look up an alternative, but it has a nice ring to it doesn't it?

I cant really spell very well. Or use grammar very well. Or put words in the right order. Or hit keys hard enough so they acually show up. And sometimes my spacebar breks.

When i'm typing i pay no attention to spelling or grammar but when i'm talking to one of my friends at school or something and they disregard grammar i go into a 5 minute rant about how crap everyone's grammar is

usually i make a million spelling mistakes when i type... and generally i can't be bothered to fix them. also i can not spell at all. but i do pull peopel up on their grammar when i am actaully speking. hrm. thats weird
