Our Posting Rules and Recommendations

Postby Mallie on Thu Aug 14, 2008 9:00 pm

Recent events have reminded me that, due to the recent influx of persons, many members have missed our posting rules. Here is a reminder :)

Okay my darling forum girls and boys, as a result of the recent influx of members, we have found it necessary to come up with a list of recommendations (not rules - you won't be banned or attacked or anything for not following them, unless you do it blatantly, deliberately and consistently) for you to follow when posting on the forum.

Like I said, we won't ban/attack/tell you off for not doing these things once or twice, we don't mind at all if it's accidental and you're just really excited, or if you do it a couple of times. That's fine. And we will always talk to you before we do anything drastic, so that we can work out a proper solution if there are any problems.

We're not doing this to try and curb free speech or anything (and we certainly don't want any problems, like one of the other popular Twilight sites had recently), in fact we're certainly encouraging it. If you want to bash Breaking Dawn or anything, feel free -

but do. it. in. the. appropriate. thread.

So, we would like to discourage you from the following things, just out of courtesy for the other members of this forum. We want to make this place the most fun, enjoyable, hurt-free, and family-like forum you've been to. We want you to feel comfortable enough to tell us if you have any problems, and trust in us to find a solution. Because we love this place, and we're not instituting these changes (which aren't really changes, just common sense) to change anything around here, but rather to make it so that everyone has fun.

1. Please refrain from double posting where possible. We don't mind it, we do it ourselves often when we just have to (when there's a new RSpunk interview.. etc... etc...), but wherever possible please just edit your previous thread.

2. Try to type in proper and grammatical English. We don't mind "lol", we don't mind a number of other incorrect things, in fact we love them, we use them ourselves often! But please make sure your post is comprehensible to the general public of the forum, and as polite as possible. I know this isn't always an option, we all get heated when it comes to Twilight, but wherever possible, please :)

3. Please keep to our banner size 'rules' - no more than 7cm. This is so that the focus is on your post, and to prevent us scrolling through huge long threads filled mostly with signatures.

4. Before you start a new thread, make sure that what you want to talk about can't be spoken about in an already existing thread. If you feel we need a more specialised thread for what you want (for example, we have the sad thread AND the venting room, because when you're sad, you're not always annoyed, and vice versa), then feel free, but explain why when you start the thread. I always want you guys to always feel free to start threads on things you love, always! But it's frustrating when a new thread is started when there's already one exactly the same.

5. BE NICE. Courtesy is not underrated, not unnecessary. It is a basic rule of any forum, and we expect it to be upheld. We reserve the right to ban anyone who is creating trouble, or not listening to the moderators

6. ALWAYS listen to the moderators. We often have rules which haven't been outlined here. But we will ALWAYS warn you if you're infringing upon them. You're not expected to know everything we expect from you, but you are expected to adhere to them once we have told you about them.

And yeah, that's about it. We'll add to this if anything else comes to our attention. And please, let us know if you have problems with any of these guidelines because, as I said, we want this to be the place you love to hang out, because we love love LOVE talking to you all!

I cannot tell you how amazing it is to me that it has taken us this many months to even need rules, but since we're getting so big (*snorts* I know, in comparison to other sites we're tiny, but heck its bigger than I ever imagined when I created this place) I want to make sure that we don't have problems down the line. This is a preventative measure, more than anything else :)

Thanks everyone!
